On the one hand I hope you’re talking about smooth jazz (kenny g and the like), and not the modern jazz that includes greats like John Scofeild, or Chris Potter. On the other I very much hope you don’t endow that trash with the glorious title of Jazz.

It is interesting to note that Niels was plucking orthodoxically with one or two fingers by then. Later on, he used all the right hand fingers. I find Niels to be the best bassist, ever!. Period. He never got his green card and was European. He was already on everyone’s jazz lips that mentioned a prodigious 16-year old plyaing acousting bass at Denmark. He had it all: Profound harmonic understanding, immaculate intonation, perfect technique, top-notch swing and rythm sense.
