Diana Krall – Temptation : Montreal Jazz Festival 2004 Live

July 11th, 2009

Diana Krall performing Tom Waits' Temptation at the Montreal Jazz Festival 2004. Not too fond of the intro, but Krall's soulful voice makes up for it! Diana Krall - Piano / Vocals Anthony Wilson - Guitar Robert Hurst - Bass Peter Erskine - Drums

I don’t agree but you are at least honest. And not ride at all.

“Female tribute to TW” – so boring!

If you are not a fan of Jazz you are going to be somewhat disappointed with some of what Diana Krall does with a variety of songs that she covers. Rhythms will be different, chords may clash with what one’s ear is accustomed to. Jazz as an idiom is creative and open and may or may not be one’s cup of tea.

Tom’s voice/inflections are dripping with temptation, her voice is flat, without inner reverberation. Listen to Tom Waits: you fall into temptation, only to fear it the next moment. Here everything is neutral, impersonal. Temptation is not! Sorry Diana Krall, do you average gig stuff and stay out of the depths that can kill you.
