When I listen to these great old players i notice the use of dynamics in their playing. I don’t understand why musicians today don’t understand the concept of volume, some parts can be loud and others can be soft.

it was written that blues is the easiest music to play, but also the hardest. think about this when listening to the “polished” and commercialized/manufactured blues. blues needs the emotions, listen to blind willie johnson, lightning hopkins. also jazz has laid down the foundation of alot in popular music-they dont just make up-they know the rules and foundations of music then procede to break the rules.

I shudder to think that there are any other blues songs other than Red House.

When people say that Jazzers make up the music as they go, that doesn’t mean they play out of key. It’s a technique called improvisation. They still know what they’re doing. It’s actually a very high thinking style of music.
